Dr. Nierenberg's book is short, sweet and very effective. Losing weight has been a real struggle. I found myself eating "by the clock" whether I was hungry or not. The most useful parts of Dr. Nierenberg's book, for me, were "Hunger is your friend" and "Eating more to eat less." The idea of eating "by the clock" is ingrained in me, but based on the book's "keys," I now make every effort to eat only when I actually feel hungry. And I find that smaller portions satisfy me, too. When I go out to eat, I order from the kid's menu when I can, or my husband and I share meals or I just take it home without feeling I have to finish in the restaurant. Per the book's recommendations, I keep up my exercise routine and I've lost weight! The book's straightforward, clear style makes it easy to understand and easier to implement.

I read this book at the recommendation of several friends - and I loved it. It's easy to read, has helpful summaries, and a conversational style that makes you feel Dr. Nierenberg is in the room. This book helps me understand what the whole weight loss process is about - I get it! I've already lost 3 pounds in the past 2 weeks by simply doing a few of the things The Power of the Bite recommends. This book is different than some of the others I have read in that it doesn't push one type of diet like South Beach or The Zone. It actually shoots them down but does provide a practical way to approach health and weight loss, I am finding it very useful
