Dr. Packard is Saving my Life

I am lucky to live close enough to Dr. Packard to become one of his patients. His book is close to being in the office with him. His compassion for people with our problems (obesity) is nothing short of amazing. Dr. Packard understands that it is not just a matter of willpower, as many of my thin friends have counselled me about, with good intentions. I have been on the Packard weight health plan for about 1.5 months in that short amount of time I am close to needing the next size smaller pants. I feel better my cravings have been taken away by medications Dr. Packard has perscribed. I can only tell you that if you have a serious weight problem this program and Dr. Packard is your best bet to become a normal person with weight health.

Sound science

I am a nurse who has been actively interested in nutrition for over 25 years. As a vegan, an all-protein breakfast IS a bit of a challenge for me. However, I found Dr. Packard's scientific rationale and his reasonable approach to weight loss so appropriate, that I contacted him about how to translate this to a vegetarian version. What I discovered was a compassionate and gentle practitioner who truly cares for each of his clients as a unique individual. Too many people want to lose weight for the wrong reasons. Dr. Packard's approach advocates weight health, not magic bullets. There are two things that I found truly unique about his approach. One, he uses the relatively new research on neurotransmitters, that began with Candace Pert's work, to explain the craving brain that derails so many of us in our diet strategies. Two, he has developed an innovative definition of the fat we carry, for which he has coined the term "fat jacket." We need a certain amount of fat for health. He even has a formula to help us calculate appropriate weight loss, based on the amount of fat we need to stay healthy. He also explains why too much fat is so terribly bad for our health. Almost all of my total joint replacement patients are overweight, often seriously overweight. He explains why excess weight can affect joint health. If you care about your quality of life, this is an important book to read. He advocates a slow and sensible approach to weight management and is very honest in telling his readers that this must be a life-long health routine, and it must include exercise. The truth is there are no magic bullets but it CAN really help you to identify what neurotransmitters in your brain are making your goal of weight loss more difficult for you. Although my weight is within normal range, I discovered in reading his book that I could improve my weight health by fine-tuning my fat jacket with some simple dietary changes and regular exercise. It has made a great difference. Most women who are in their 40's (like me) struggle with the change in body composition that too often occurs in this decade. This is a great book for them! Enjoy!

If You Want to Be Healthy and Lose Weight, Here's the Plan

I'm so glad I found Dr. Packard's book. Frankly, his no-nonsense, down-to-earth approach appealed to me more than any other book I've read on the subject. I found the Packard Weight Health Plan so intriguing, and so easy to follow, that I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Packard. I found his book to be easy to read and follow, and I found the Doctor to be the caring man he portrays himself to be. He's not giving us a "magic pill" that will last a short time. He gives us a life-long plan (with full explanation and step-by-step guide, recipies too) for being healthy and weight smart. This plan is working for me. The other plans haven't worked for me. I feel so much better, and I'm not beating myself up for not having been successful in the past. I have no doubt that this is the plan for me, and for others. Keep in mind, this plan can also help those who aren't necessarily interested in weight loss, but who just want to be healthier overall. If you try the plan, you will like it. And, Dr. Packard is always accessible, either on his website, or by phone if you're not lucky enough to live close by as I do. I've already recommended the book and the plan to several friends across the country, and I've told my primary care physician about it too. The bottom line here is: get the book, read the book, then read it again. Try what he says and then try it again. Then when you notice that you can walk a few steps more, and that you have more energy because you ate only protein at breakfast, then try it again. It's a day by day process. But, let me tell you, it's worth it. I wish I had this book so many years ago. But things come when they're supposed to. I'm just glad I saw his book in the bookstore because I initially when to buy another book. Do the journaling, take the vitamins, go to the website and fill out the questionnaire and get the assessment. At the very least, you'll find out more about yourself than you ever thought you would, you'll be healthier, happier, and you will lose weight. And, that's what the Packard Weight Health Plan is all about. Thanks to Dr. Packard.

It's about time!

Finally a book that offers not only an explanation but a solution to the world's obesity problem. When reading this book it was important for me to understand the way I consume my food makes a difference in my weight and my health as well. I found it comforting to know the the way my craving brain works and how I control it helps me to obtain weight health. I think about eating those french fries and realize that if I do I could be creating free radicals that can lead to many health conditions....and in the end I pass. I'm looking better and more importantly I feel better. Way to go Dr. Packard!

This plan actually works

This book actually works! I have read every diet book and gone on every diet from Atkins to the Grapefruit Plan, and this book blows them away. It's not a diet but a lifestyle plan, and it's super easy. Take my advice and give it a try, it may seem a little too "medical" but the plan can't be topped.
