The Other Vogelheime: National Chameleons

This saga is contemporaneous with, 'Unremembered Lives'(ISBN: 9781729267813), except that the dramatis personae become fatally trapped by the worst aspects of 1912-1945 Europe. The main character is a nurse, Gretel Bummelstein, although she would like you to believe that her story is all about her friend Hans Spiegel and his relatives living in Vogelheim. In their journey through eastern Germany, they find the best and the worst aspects of humanity rubbing off against them and making their na ve beliefs of good and evil antiquated and almost irrelevant. This is not a book for the faint hearted thinking about having a comfortable read before going off to bed, but a painful reminder that the nightmarish lessons of history are rarely learned by subsequent generations. The graphics in this version have been reduced to grey-scale.
