GREAT FOR HISTORY BUFFS IN GRADES 4-8

This story of a young "powder monkey" on the USS Constitution tells of a young boy's struggle to find his own "constitution" as he works on the ship during the War of 1812. Author Duncan Brown - also a teacher in Cape Cod - has drawn wonderful illustrations to enhance the story. This book is a favorite for young readers at the USS Constitution Museum in Boston and has been serialized in several newspapers for readers 9 to 14 years old..
