I have read many books by Sara Craven- her writing is inconsistent and this was not her best work. I didn't easily connect with the characters. Nick Destry was a hard-edged businessman; successful and driven; great attention to the bottom line. I was pleased with his willingness to question his pre-conceived notions of the other protagonist, Paige. It didn't come quickly, but came around with perfect timing. There was no doubt that Nick's investment strategy was necessary for the company, but Paige was too quick to settle for a pre-arranged marriage based on family business interests to bail out her brother's poor management of the business. Paige was too kind to her devious brother; too accepting of his obvious faults and offering him protection at her own expense. That was a bit distasteful- but understandable given her concern for her father and the failing family business. There was physical attraction, some interesting background dynamics- maybe humor. It was okay, but didn't capture my undivided attention, or ensnare me in the unraveling of the tale. Mediocre read.
