The Little Green Ribbon

The uneasy summer of 1941 before the United States entered World War II, five-year-old Joyce Bircher adores her older brother Jimmy. Jimmy, the eldest of five children had just earned a pilot's license. As the US draws closer to entering the war Jimmy makes the decision to join the United States Army Air Corps. During his only leave home before he is shipped off to the Pacific, Joyce gives Jimmy one of the little green ribbons she used to tie her pig tails for him to carry as a good luck charm. Late in the war tragic news comes to the Bircher family; Jimmy has been shot down. For the next seven decades Joyce holds out hope that Jimmy's remains will be discovered and given a proper burial. Now over 80 and with her husband and siblings gone, Joyce's desire to find her brother grows stronger. Will Joyce's prayers be answered, and Jimmy be found so she can lay him to rest? Or will his remains be forever cosigned to the waters of the Pacific Ocean?
