Children & Adult comfort and support

Excellent book both in the story and illustrations! This book will suit people of all ages, even those not dealing with the issues addressed in the story.

Comforting Story Prompts Insight

Complemented by lovely illustrations, this wonderful story not only enlightens one's understanding of the mysteries associated with death, but promotes inner peace. Having studied children's literature for over 30 years, I recognize the poignancy of The Light of Stars; though, at first, the selection appears to be a children's book, it soon becomes apparent how the words, images and underlying message also comfort adults. The Light of Stars makes an excellent choice for personal and professional libraries. Additionally, it's an ideal gift for youngsters and adults facing, or who've experienced, a personal loss.

Sensitive and Touching

The Light of the Stars addresses timeless questions about the nature of our existence and our place in the world using language accessible to children that will resonate with adults. Glowatsky weaves her beautiful fable of a young girl and her small white dog as they walk along the beach using recurring images of nature (the sea, the tide, the stars) to reinforce the cycles of life and offer comfort to young and old alike. This book will become a mainstay for counselors, teachers, parents, or anyone guiding children through the world of loss and grief. With The Light of the Stars, we have another wonderful addition to the library of biblio-therapy books for children!

A Book of Beauty and Hope!

Phyllis Glowatsky has produced a truly lovely book, written with a simplicity and a depth that rarely comes along in children's literature. A story about dying and even moreso about our living, "The Light of Stars" is a very human tale. This book will find an enduring place with families, schools and caregivers for years to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A nurturing book to help during times of loss

My beautiful old dog, Kaya, died in November and left a big hole in our lives. Kaya was quite a part of our household, ever present and involved in everything we do as a family. Our friend's little daughter, Jackie, was quite distraught and full of questions about what happened to Kaya. Early one morning we sat together in a big comfortable chair, with her on my lap, and we read The Light Of Stars together. We wept, we laughed, we talked for a really long time, and we were both comforted knowing that Kaya's spirit is still shining upon us. Jackie has her own book now, and when her pet RAT (yes a rat) died, she was beter able to conceptualize the event, the cycle of life, and grive in a healthy way. Thank you Phyllis Glowatsky for a beautifully written, and wonderfully illustrated book, that I will continue to share with my family and friends.
