A brief guide with tools to keep you on track

This book is full of lists of ten items about common sense, every day situations. The lists are pretty brief and don't go into much detail, and they almost seem like magazine article snippets, but you can use them to expand on situations in your own life. Using lists or snippets to jog the memory to remain on track. Topics range from health to career to relationships. I think that this book might be good for a high school graduate who is just starting out in the "real world," but for adults who have any life experience, you will not really learn anything new or astounding. Like many books in this category, I kept asking myself, "Don't most people know this?" My conclusion is that even many more need to be reminded of the basics. Overall, I liked most of the lists provided and the best 10 lists are shaded grey for convenience.

Need some direction? What is success to you?

What is your definition of success? Is it having a lot of materialistic items? Is it being well regarded in your community, among your peers? Or is it something as basic as having the vitality of life? Well, The Life Guide is nice quick and easy read that helps you decide what does success look like for you and only you. It's not what other people define success as, but one you create and one that is achievable for you and you alone. The author breaks it down by component areas of defining your success, time, changes, health, stress, work, leisure, relationships, children, parents, money, home, and retirement. Each area Robert Ashton, gives you 10 ways to accomplish your goals in each of the component areas. This makes it very simplistic because everything he suggests is in lots of 10. He even gives you 10 good reasons to why he thinks you'll enjoy reading the book. I found the book to be a nice quick read on information I basically ready knew, but it was scattered in my mind. This helped me to really hone and focus my goals and discover how they are all interrelated.

SMART! SMART! SMART!

This slim, slim volume of commonsense "everything in life that you need" tips is the 100% fell good about yourself book of my year. I WILL give these out to friends and clients, no question. It looks to be written for younger readers: how to change your goals, how to stay thinner, how to save, how to change what you don't like about yourself. What people change the most, etc. Meet new people more easily, affordable vacation options, handling your boss and job, how to set priorities and stick to them, start your own small business, the best childcare options, keeping out of debt, building savings: pretty common sense stuff, right? but combined into a sharp paperback, it is an everyday "bible" in that you will absolutely keep it nearby whenever you need a boost or a propping up. The BEST $15 gift to a good friend you'll give, because it will keep being used and for all the best reasons. Chin up; if life is not-so-hot, read this for corrective measures. A safer boost than a jolt of strong java; faster and cheaper than therapy and/or avoiding what needs to be changed to make you HAPPY. Damn well done!
