The Law of Becoming

By Kate Elliott

Book Overview

In this electrifying finale to Kate Elliott's Novels of the Jaran, the fight against the alien Chapalii empire comes to an exhilarating end.

Charles Soerensen is the human who dared to take on the powerful Chapalii empire. When his plot for a revolt failed, instead of being punished he received a high-ranking title and authority over a whole system of planets--but this did nothing to change his revolutionary inclinations.

In this final book, the story of Tess, Ilya, and Charles comes to its stunning conclusion as new generations get involved in the intrigue, Earth's exiled jaran people resurface, and the Chapalii overlords make one last, unexpected move.

Jaran Series Still Has Fresh Ideas in Book Four!

This book has more humans adjusting to life with the Jaran, and some Jaran adjusting to life on earth. Some people even visit the Chapilii, and communication (or not) is interesting. We meet several new characters, while the old ones continue to develop - Tess, Charles, and even Anatoly finally come into their own. It has a cool vision of the internet's future. In some ways this book ties things up... but some new twists are introduced... leaving Jaran lovers impatient for the eventual book number five!!

She plans on several more books in the Jaran series, but it doesn't sound like she'll be getting back to those until she finishes her sequel to _The Golden Key_ (which is an excellent book too, btw) which she'll do after she finishes "Crown of Stars". In other words, we've a long time to wait for more in this fantastic series.

UTTERLY FANTASTIC

Kate Elliott has brought to us a future that can happen. Her plots and characters are believable and solidly written. The complexity of the jaran culture that she has brought to life is extraordinary. This series is a MUST for true readers. I am anxiously hoping for a book 5. A good 5 star recommendation!!!!!

The most compelling and haunting series I have ever read.

A voracious sci-fi reader, I consume books. But I am haunted by this series, and want to know when Kate will do the follow-up. Please stop writing the other series (I'm not crazy about fantasy and magic) and let us resume following this fabulous saga.Incredible characters, interesting settings, believable future, albeit a distant one.

Write Faster Kate!

Her Jaran series just keeps getting better and better! After reading the first three books at warp speed, I took off about 6 months before reading this one. Man! Her characters have such personality! I hope it doesn't go downhill from here, like Melanie Rawn's books did, trying to maintain so many different characters and their personalities gets very difficult
