Scratching in the right spot!

THE ITCH was a quick, fun read that had a satisfying ending for Abra, who now knows that true happiness lies within ourselves, and Cullen, who now knows that every itch scratched hard enough becomes bruised and slow to heal. Sometimes, it's best to keep your hands in your pockets. Another winner from the GOOD HAIR lady herself. Thanks Ms. Little!

Really got into it

I am always glad to read about the once thought 'non-existent' black middle class and Benilde Little has done a good job of portraying this segment of society with Good Hair and The Itch.But, I found the story especially appealing because I could relate to the characters and the similarities they have to my own life and that of some of my friends ... particularly dating, deciding to marry ... what to do when things go awry.I was reading this book on the train when a brother stepped on who looked just as I had pictured Cullen ... I had to catch myself to keep from snarling at him for in that instant was thought 'There his behind is now ! 'So, the ability to give such great descriptions is another mark of a good writer.Good, quick, entertaining read.

This definately hits home.

This book is dynamic in every aspect. You have to have an open mind to read this book. All of the characters are successful and this is not a fantasy but a reality. African Americans need to realize that there is a realm of education, goals, and spirituality out there for us to experience. Regardless of the characters education or wealth they experienced drama that many of us do. infidelity, heartbreaks, lies, single family, and the struggle. What was powerful about the story was that it manage to tell us that regardless of the struggle the characters manage to over come them with, love and friendship. You must read this book. I choose the book for my reading club THE BASE.

Benilde Little does a wonderful job a telling a story and keeping you dying to know what's on the next page. Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading your next book.

A silent storm that takes you there!

I really enjoyed this book. My book club read Good Hair and felt it was lukewarm but this was a fascinating story. I felt that the characters were well developed and sister did her homework. The sex scenes were so hot you felt like you were there. I enjoy a story where the characters grow. I think that everyone in the book learned something about themselves. I commend Benilde on this profound read. Her finger is on the pulse on the black upper crust. I am now a fan for life!! I'm fellin you sista!
