Great buy for an Elder Scrolls fan!

If you're like me, and absorb all things Elder Scrolls, grab this book ( and its continuation: Lord of Souls )

Interesting Story

As soon as I got this book in my brother picked it up and read it start to finish in less than 3.5 hours. We are both TES fans and we both loved it. If you are not a TES fan or are not familiar with any of the TES/Oblivion story line, you will be hopelessly lost and probably detest it. The story line is simple enough to follow and fun. I enjoyed being able to read a book involving a world that I fell in love with intensely on my PC/360. This book is designed to be the start of a series, and you can tell by the ending of the book. More or less it gets you to a cliff then just drops you off, which is my one main complaint. There is not any type of closure, which is making the time between the publishing of the two books seem like an eternity for my brother and I.

Can't wait for part 2

This book was a great read for The Elder Scrolls fan. It goes along well with T.E.S. universe and lore. Non Elder Scrolls fans may have a bit of trouble fully understanding the world and things in which it takes place though. Please keep in mind that it is part of a 2 part series, so it leaves you hanging at the end. Enjoy!

Great book... can't wait for the next one

I thought the book was superb. It's definitely tailored more towards people who are already fans of/versed with TES, but I think it could be at least worthy of three stars for someone just picking it up. It was well written, the characters are endearing, and the book is fast paced, with plenty of action (and not just armored warriors hacking and slashing, there is quite a bit of intruige) to keep things moving. It should be noted that this does appear to be part one of a two-parter, so don't expect too much in the way of resolution. Still and all, if you are a TES fan who is getting ancy (it's been three years going on four since the last game, and Bethesda said recently that while TES V is in works, don't expect it any time soon), this is a must-read!

Great adventure...

I'll keep it simple and straight to the point. This is a definitive sequel to the Oblivion storyline (i.e. the video game), as the plot recalls many situations back to this essential plotline (if you can call it that, per se). Nevertheless, I began reading this book over the weekend and could not stop. Essentially, the author took three major storylines: 1) two friends, a prince and a stranger, and lastly, at certain points a detective (or inquisitor). All in all, the three separate storylines unfold into an array of various situations (vis-a-vis from a character driven perspective), one which manages to string itself back together. In essence, this was a great fictional read that extended the Elder Scroll's world. However, the ending, well, it left many questions and leaves one awaiting eagerly for the next book.

Finished it the other day and it was great! I guess I could complain about the length, but there is a sequel in the works so I can't really complain and no one else should either.The book is surprisingly well written, easy to read and it really feels like it goes along with the Elder Scrolls mythos. I would definitely recommend it to anyone familiar with the Elder Scrolls games although in the future, it would be nice if they had a re-release including appendices with maps and other useful information relating to the world in which the book takes place. I'm looking forward to more books in this series and I hope they make more than just the two that are planned.
