Good

I have to first say there is not a book written by Judy Hall that I do not like. (grin) I like her style and presentation. Her writing style is always a good read. This particular book covers many forms of divination, whetting the appetite to learn more. I ended up ordering a few of the featured items mentioned and shown in the book. If one wants to learn about the various forms of divination, this is the book to start with.

perfect beginners primer

I've read this book cover to cover, and appretiate how it covered such diverse possibilites on divination. There is so much graphical punch to it (which is something I always consider when buying a tarot deck, so for me that matters). I don't think every page is a treasure, but I am sure that there are enough tresures for anyone who gets a copy. In other words, you are bound to be intrigued by more than a few methods or presentations given in this book. There are two drawbacks to the book though. You are likely to be enchanted by a set of cards or other item pictured, and then have trouble procuring it. Given that they list a number of products and the books copyright is 2000 that is understandable. However I have been able to hunt down a number of the items now, in 2009 with a bit of effort. The other is that while you get good detail on each subject, they can't explore it in depth given the length of the book. Again, this doesn't turn out to be a big detractor once you turn to google. They stick to pure divination until a couple pages at the end where they touch on psychic abilities. They don't go near the practice of magic either but I'm pretty sure that once you've gone over the book and start searcing for a physical "oracle" that you would encounter some of either topic if you actually want to dig for it (it's not to my taste, but I am stumbling accross it often enough to see it's popular).
