The Heart of Poetry is a collection of thirty years worth of poetry, including poems the author had written starting at the age of twelve. Each poem includes a note explaining the meaning behind it and little anecdotes about what was going on in her life at the time each was written. She also includes writing tips for those who have always wanted to get into writing poetry or anything else. Poetry has always been a way for the author to make sense of the world and the situations that have happened to shape her into who she is. Sometimes those situations were comical, sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but through it all, poetry was at the heart of helping her cope and figure out her emotions. She hopes that her poems can bring peace amidst chaos, laughter amidst sadness, joy amidst pain, and encouragement amidst hopelessness and heartbreak. If this book can do that for one person, it was worth every minute.
