Christian's honorable proposal offers her and their baby protection, but she must push all thoughts of love aside. Except their dishonorable hunger for one another is threatening their convenient arrangement The world's sexiest billionaires finally say "I do "
I enjoyed the second book in the Society Weddings series. The protagonists, Christian and Alessandra, were complex, interesting, talented, driven. The story line was interesting, but a bit drawn out. Marriage as a business arrangement and a means to secure parental rights never seems logical- but often provides the basis of many enjoyable romance novels. Often our pasts unfairly influence our futures, in painful and unjust behaviors. Christian and Alessandra allowed family histories too much weight in setting goals for their marriage and their behaviors towards one another. The messages they gleaned from observing marital relationships and parenting were unfortunate. Despite different social and financial means in their upbringing, they both felt deficient; that they were not enough, not good enough, incapable of love- and unworthy of it. Conflicting emotions, values, careers, miscommunication and disappointment between the characters led to enlightenment, personal growth and a willingness to re-evaluate beliefs that no longer served them well. The supporting characters were strong, interesting and were an asset to the evolution of the main characters' relationship. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next installment in the saga.
