There is a famous Zen story about a disciple, Riko, who once asked his master Nansen to explain to him the old Zen koan of the goose in the bottle. Namely, if a man puts a gosling into a bottle, and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I suppose one could call Osho a general follower of Zen, but perhaps it is best to call him a modern Indian guru as his teachings are somewhat unique. He has written a prodigious amount of material, and the Goose Is Out is one of them. The title refers to imagining a goose within a bottle and what do you do to release the goose without breaking the bottle. Clap your hands... and the goose is out! The goose represents your consciousness, and the bottle the limitations of your mind. To free your consciousness just leave the confins of the bottle, transcend the bottles limitations. That's bassically what the book is about, how to transcend your own self imposed limitations. Like Osho says, he doesn't have pity on your limitations, he laughs at them and you, for you have within yourself the power to do it. The book offers a series of anecdotes, with several jokes along the way, some of them mildly sexual. The writing style is flowing and interesting to read. My favorite part is the section where he says that god is within yourself.
