An extremely well written book with the layman in mind!

The Fitness Professional will find themselves refering to this book ever so often as it covers all areas from the reason why one should be conditioned for this sport to flexibility tests, the importance of stretching and how to warm up for golf (- an area most often skipped by golf enthusiats) functional exercise (- and the importance of it) strength & power exercises. An important aspect is also that exercises should be progressed from flexibility to stability to strength and finally power to enhance performance and be injury free. The diagrams are excellent for convincing and explaining to clients. Infact the concepts in this book has carry over to any other sport that requires you to move as an integrated whole!!

A Hole in One!

Paul Chek's Golf Biomechanic's book shows us there is more to a sport and how to get more from your game with functional core and coordination exercises corectly. I use this book to show my clients where they are lacking in their swing and when their muscles are not `turning on'. The diagrams are detailed and correct for amateur and for the elite athlete. At my clinic, JS Strength and Health, I also use Gold Biomechanic's for the elite Equestrian riders. Because strength and coordination can be weak at any level and this book show us parallels between many sports.

Achieve Your Golf Potential!

This book is a must have conditioning manual for any golfer, hacker or professional. It is also a great reference tool for exercise profesionals. You will learn how to stretch, warm-up, and improve your strength & power specifically for golf. Everything in the book is based on sound prinicples of how our bodies work. It also takes into account individual differences and ability levels.

For golfers who want to be great and won't settle for 'good'

I got this book through inter-library loan because it's a little pricy, but I'll probably buy it in the future. I currently play to a 6 hdcp (continuing to fall from 11 over the last 3 seasons) and have a huge golf library and think that this is one of the better books I've read.I used to think I was in good shape and that golf specific physical training would be marginally helpful at best. I'm learning that this is a much bigger piece of the performance puzzle than I originally thought. BTW, most golf pros aren't very saavy about this facet of the game (even some with great reputations). The mental game is also important, but you need a body that can respond to the requests your mind gives it. I don't know of a better book out there that so intelligently prepares the most important piece of golf equipment you have - your body - for optimal performance. You'll also be surprise at how much more confidence you'll have when you've conditioned yourself to swing in a more powerful and efficient manner. This book is well written with very clear explainations around the principals or the 'why' behind the programs. There are also a lot of good pictures and accompanying explainations that clearly illustrate how each exercise should be performed.
