Great for NAMI educators, family members, or students in healthcare

Concise, understandable and clearly written, this book with give an accurate review of
Mental Health clinical (DSM 5) criteria for individual psychiatric brain disorders…. their presenting symptoms, describing both the illness, treatment options, including choosing medications,
and other information useful to a mental health professional. I have been a therapist for 30 years
and can attest how useful it is to have a text that I could refer an individual to, that will go into detail and depth regarding specific brain disorders, their simulations and differences with other illnesses, and reference to how such brain disorders are diagnosed and treated. Great for NAMI,
MHA, nursing students preparing for psych rotations, or as a quick review for mental health clinicians as they begin their career. Patients who have a desire to learn more their diagnosis and treatment will find this text particularly interesting. This is not a scholarly academy text that would only make sense to college or grad students. Rather, this is written as an introduction or /review to a complex field without “dummying down to the lowest level.” It does not presume the reader can not understand psychiatric treatment…. But rather… presents concepts and information
as such, to not overwhelm with data specifically geared to physicians or advanced practitioners.
Really great all-around book.
