The End of the Road

In the follow up to No Road Map, the next generation takes center stage as the grandchildren experience the ups and downs of life. Twins Jonathan and Gareth are now married with children of their own. Gareth and his family live in their parents' old home, cozy for the couple and their kids, although Jonathan mysteriously isn't welcome there anymore. Separately, they would have gone on living easy lives until one night, news breaks that Jonathan and his wife have died in a car crash, leaving behind their two boys. Gareth takes them in, but there is confusion and animosity as two families become one. Tough choices lead to a domino effect as lives are torn apart and put back together on the cusp of terrible loss.

Author O'Meara faced similar heartbreak when she lost her husband, so although there are pearls of truth in The Road Ahead, the story is fictional. What's not fiction is the reality that life is a rollercoaster to be endured, enjoyed, and lived to the fullest. One never knows how long life will last, but we must treasure all our days before they're gone.
