Book Overview

Shirley Hollister pushed back the hair from her hot forehead, pressed her hands wearily over tired eyes, then dropped her fingers again to the typewriter keys, and flew on with the letter she was writing. There was no one else in the inner office where she sat. Mr. Barnard, the senior member of the firm, whose stenographer she was, had stepped into the outer office for a moment with a telegram which he had just received.

Other than The Bible, itself, this is my absolute favorite book of all times. I may have read it 100

Other than The Bible, itself, this is my absolute favorite book of all times. I may have read it 100 times. Life affirming, reminding you what is truly important in life, and what is not. That God is faithful, and you can trust that He is working even in the darkest times. Every Grace Livingston Hill book draws you close to God, but This one is special! Some parts thrilling, some parts peaceful. Character, bravery, hope and love. You will feel better after reading this book!

My Favorite

This is my favorite GHL bookI have read it five times ormore the story is just as fresh as it was the first timeI read it. It is a wonderful story of family life and how they stick together in the time of adversity, even if they have to live in a barn. Their faith in God and each other makes it a very heartwarming story in the style that GHL is famous for.

timeless reading and just facinating

I first was introduced to her books by my Grandmother reading them to me as a child, then read them on my own. It is a story of poverty, making do with what you have, and turning even a barn into a welcoming home. She shows anywhere can be home if you have each other!! If anyone has a copy (I have most of hers) I would love to buy it.
