The Denigration of God: Second Edition

Religion has a chequered history that has at times been associated with violence, torture and war. Its origins come from imagination and invented Gods, but it evolved into something based on a real God that could be shown to exist through prophecy. Messages came through prophets, that showed God to be an enlightened being, who implored people to treat others as we like to be treated ourselves, to neither steal or murder, but the message often fell on deaf ears, even within religions themselves, even up to the modern day in a few places. Ancient religions condoned slavery and murder, and for a while in history ran a flourishing slave trade, with people bought and sold. This book follows a part of ancient religion that by its actions could be said to have denigrated the name of the very being it relied on for its existence, because in ancient times, just about everything was purported to be justified by God, even directed and encouraged by him, in contradiction of the Ten Commandments he was also supposed to have given, and in so doing the book traces a part of the history of religion.
