The Demon Queen of Lanka

By Jayasinghe Liyanage Nimal Ranjith

Long before recorded history, when Lanka was a land of mystic forests and shadowed power, a supernatural queen changed the course of a nation's destiny.

This gripping retelling of the legend of Kuveni-a powerful Yakshini who defied her kind to aid the exiled Indian prince Vijaya-blends myth, history, and cultural memory into a vivid tapestry of love, betrayal, and transformation. With her magic and knowledge of the land, Kuveni made Vijaya's conquest possible, only to be cast aside once his power was secure.

Was she a demoness or a queen? A seductress or a savior?

Her tragic fate echoes through the centuries as a symbol of sacrifice, female power, and the price of empire.

The Demon Queen of Lanka brings to life the foundational myth of Sri Lanka's first dynasty-an origin story shaped as much by supernatural forces as by human ambition. For readers of historical myth, cultural legend, and feminist reimaginings, this is a tale that will haunt and inspire.
