Sublime Adaptation

Immediately finishing the last page I was ready to shout out, "When the hell does the second one come out!" To this day I haven't received an answer, because I hope it's soon. Following the big video game release, Hawkins wrote the novel elaborately detailing the storyline from the comics taking some artistic freedom here and there, which I support because when I later compared them I found her version to be even better, since I was up late into the night, my feet kicking off the foot of my bed anxious like a little schoolboy, laughing and cheering and gawking and cursing as I turned the pages during the thrilling action sequences. In this, the Darkness has been a haunting voice in Jackie's nightmares throughout his life. The book follows him from his last days in the orphanage with Jenny, to living with his Uncle Frankie Franchetti the mob boss, to his school days, to his first assassination, and then to his 21st birthday when he meets the Darkness. The comic, video game, and Hawkins each had their own version of what happens at the stroke of midnight when the Darkness floods out from his body. I award Hawkins for doing it best. With my mouth gaping I reread the pages through and through just loving every word of the violence and gore. Kerri Hawkins: Please, please, please write a second book! You're an amazing writer and I applaud you.

I read this book in one sitting. The details were amazing. The style of writing was incredible. You should also check out this authors Blood Legacy books. Her writing is unbelievable, you won't be dissapointed.
