THE FIFTH AVENUE FIASCO
Book Five of The Crackerjack Chronicles
None of this happened. The four of them do not exist. The avenue does.
What there is: one hot Saturday, the full length of Quinta Avenida, and four people who have never once agreed on a plan.
Mi Amor has a list. Catalina has a scarf to find. Vivienne has a power bracelet and no impulse control. Crackerjack has a Pac fico waiting in a cooler forty blocks away and a growing suspicion he will not reach it.
What follows is the last and loudest afternoon of Series One: a leather-goods stall that does not negotiate, a tequila vendor with a moustache you could file a claim against, three minutes and forty-two seconds of eye contact with an iguana, and a small carved wooden bird that costs forty-five pesos and settles something nobody was willing to say out loud.
The avenue was never the story. The four of them were.
Forty blocks of avenue. One small wooden bird.
Book Five of five short comic novels - and the close of Series One.
