The Boy From Butchertown [Large Print]

Part of San Francisco's pass history includes a section of The City once called "Butchertown". During the late 1800's and early 1900's this section of town along Isias Creek, was home to 24 slaughter houses. The population of this neiborhood was very diverse. Most of the adults immigrated to the United States from many of the European Country's and few spoke English. This group of new Americans worked hard for very little pay. They were tough people and had to fight for what was theirs.

Johnny Turnbull and Ricco Landucci were both born in homes on Galvez Ave the same month in 1915. They began a friendship that lasted their entire lives. They were joined by Tex and a younger Danny Cary. These four traveled through out The City and parts of Northern California. The adventures that these guys had included trips to the beach and playland, playing sandlot baseball, high school football, fishing trips, gambling in Reno, hayfights at rodeos and summers in Santa Cruz. They also fought together against big business on the waterfront during Bloody Thursday during the Strike of 1934. Enjoy their experiences and friendships that became changed on December 7 1941.
