ACTUALLY A 10*

I have read all of Sandra Hill's Viking books, loved them all. The "Blue Viking" is far and away the best. It is funny, witty, charming, sexy and just plain delightful! What a great story and characters. Bolthor's sagas about Rurik and Maire (and other things) are LOL. I was sorry to see the book end, yet read it at the speed of light. Please write some more, Ms. Hill. You are a wonderful author.

Humorous, Witty, Delightful, Sensual

This is my first Sandra Hill book but certainly not my last. I caught myself laughing out loud during this reading.Rurick, a Viking, was cursed 5 years before by Mairie the Witch (supposedly). She inadvertently placed a blue zig-zag mark down the center of his face. For the last 3 years Rurick has been searching for Mairie so she can be forced to remove this mark as his bethroted, Theta, will not wed him until it is removed. What Rurick does not know is that Mairie is not a very good witch. She keeps mixing up her witch's chants with strange, funny results. The story centers on Rurick's efforts to find Mairie, accompanied but his not so knightly knights who are incredibly funny. When Rurick finds Mairie he finds she has been locked in a cage suspended over a pit of snakes and will be left there until she marries him. In his pursuit, Rurick has been joined by Mairie's clansmen who are old and many missing body parts but they are not to be deterred. They view Rurick as a Scotish Viking and Rurick's scald Bolthar writes incredibly funny prose about Rurick's exploits.Rurick had a one night stand with Mairie 5 years previously which resulted in a son, Wee Jamie. As Rurick would not take Mairie with him she was left to marry another who discovering she was not a virgin mistreated her. Rurick does not know about the existence of his son.I am not fond of Viking stories but this was hilarious and I am looking forward to reading Ms. Hill's other books.

Vikings, Highlanders & witches, what else could you ask for?

Another fun and sexy viking saga from Ms.Hill. If you've previously read any of her time travel tales you may remember Rurik. He's the extremely handsome(and very vain) viking whose face was marred by a witch. She put a blue zigzag right down the middle. Here we find Rurik in search of the witch. He's had the mark for 5 years now. His future bride, Theta, refuses to marry him until the blue stripe is removed. His years of searching for her finally come to an end in her highland home. Maire, the witch, has been living in a cage hanging over a pit of snakes, placed there by her brother-in-law, Duncan McNab. Kenneth McNab, her husband has been dead a few months and greedy Duncan wants her land. She will be set free of the cage when she agrees to Duncan's proposal. Maire knows that agreeing will only end in her death after the wedding. there is no love for her where Duncan is concerned. Rurik is enrage to find Maire in a cage and comes to her rescue. Maire accepts Rurik's help to rid her home of the McNabs after spending years hiding from him. She has a secret she rather he didn't know about. And Rurik is sure going to be angry when he finds out Maire's witchly skills are off kilter. He just might never get rid of the blue mark after all.

Sexual Content: Rated R

The Blue Viking tells us the story of Rurik (from The Bewitched Viking) and is one of Sandra Hill's best releases to date. Although this book can be read without having read its predecessors, here's how the order goes for anyone interested: The Reluctant Viking (time travel), The Outlaw Viking (time travel), The Tarnished Lady (historical), The Bewitched Viking (historical), and The Blue Viking (historical).Rurik the Vain has been scouring the countryside for a Scottish witch named Maire that he seduced and abandoned five years past. The witch wreaked her vengance well, for after Rurik took her virginity and left her she marked him with a permanent jagged blue line that runs down the center of his otherwise perfectly handsome face. Determined to remove the blue mark at all costs so that he can wed with a high born Viking woman he is betrothed to, Rurik sets off for Scotland to find the witch.Maire Campbell has many problems, the most fundamental one being that Duncan MacNab is determined to lay claim to her lands now that all of her brothers are dead and her five-year-old son Jamie is too young to provide leadership to the clan. When Rurik releases her from a MacNab prison and agrees to help her people flush out the MacNabs, she is grateful to him, but isn't certain she can remove the blue mark in exchange for his services because of her other problem...Maire might be a witch, bit she's the most inept witch ever to practice the witchly arts.Rurik might have come to the Highlands in order to have the blue mark removed, but once he sets his sights back on Maire the jagged line down the center of his face begins to wane in importance. Remembering his betrothal, he will try to resist the lure of falling in love with the world's worst witch, but he can hold out for only so long...Sandra Hill just gets better and better with each successive novel. This is an incredibly entertaining book and definitely one for the keeper shelf. The Blue Viking is fast paced, humorous, and crackling with sensual sizzle. This is a definite must-buy!

Don't we all wish we knew men like these vikings

I really enjoyed the newest addition to the Sandra Hill Viking series. Rurik and Maire were very good together. Our hero Rurik has to overcome many obstacles to get what he truly wants and deserves. Maire also has the same obstacles to overcome. The novel talked alot about self esteem issues and how the characters were able to finally get what they wanted and deserved. It was not the same things they wanted in the beginning of the novel. The other characters work well together. It just goes to show you that the bigger a Viking is the harder they fall. The book was humerous, had adventure, was very sexual and an enjoyable read. I would recomend this and all the Sandra Hill Viking novels to any reader. Maybe we could also hear more about the Viking S spot.
