Captivating Amish Romance

The Blended Quilt by Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter is another delightful book by a favorite author and her daughter-in-law. I enjoyed the return of Sadie and her friends who readers were introduced to in The Hawaiian Quilt. Sadie has settled back home after the memorable trip to Hawaii and now is contemplating writing a book about Amish and Hawaiian quilts. She encounters pushback from Wyman, the man who wants to court her and her sisters too. The Brunstetter authors have put together an interesting and contemporary look at the Amish as Sadie branches out from the traditional Amish female role. The main characters have depth and reality and their emotions, strengths, and foibles resonate well with readers. I did have a bit of a hard time with Wyman and his seemingly selfish outlook on Sadie and his relationship, but all ends well! At the end of the book, the authors have included a recipe and discussion questions. I do wish they had included the pattern for the Blended Quilt!! All in all, The Blended Quilt is not just another ho-hum novel about the Amish...it is one that reminds readers about the importance of family, faith, and hope. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.

Original Story

The Blended Quilt by Wanda E. Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter Reviewed by mrsboone4, Green Forest, Arkansas, USA 5 Stars Sadie and three other Amish young women went to Hawaii on a cruise ship for a vacation, several years ago.  Sadie has been mulling over the idea of blending some traditional Amish quilt patterns with traditional Hawaiian patterns.  As she tells her friends about her ideas, one of them encourages her to write a book about it.   Sadie's boyfriend, an Amish man named Wyman is proving that he is not trustworthy for a relationship, maybe not even marriage.  Wyman doesn't like any of the jobs he has tried, he likes them for a couple of weeks and then he gets tired of them or bored. Wyman doesn't like the idea of Sadie writing a quilt book, all that extra time she could be spending with him, she's busy with her book. Sadie must care for Wyman a lot, I don't think I would stay in the relationship, if I was in her shoes. An original story.  Keeps you guessing.  Highly recommended.  I am thankful to have received a complimentary copy of this book from Shiloh Run Press with no obligation to post a review.
