Another great book by Menden

I enjoyed Tekgrrl almost as much as I enjoyed Phenomenal Girl 5, and that's saying something. Menden has great characters, humor, action, fun dialog, and even some romance. This book is FUN! After two great books, Menden is definitely an auto-buy for me.

Excellent Book!!

This book is even better than the first! Once I started it I couldn't put it down!! Highly recommended! Can't wait until the 3rd book in this series is published!!!

Tekgrrl by A. J. Menden Paranormal Romance May 26th, 2009 4 stars Tekgrrl by A. J. Menden was a pure pleasure to read! Anyone who loves comic books come to life will enjoy this novel. This is the author's second book following Phenomenal Girl 5. It helps to have read the first book but is really not necessary. Tekkgrrl starts with Mindy, a human who was surgically enhanced by aliens to become the most intelligent person alive. But even though she has brains and beauty Mindy still feels inadequate because she doesn't actually have super powers like the rest of her team. Especially around the hunky Luke her lifelong crush. Determined to change her life she does a mini makeover. But soon Mindy starts to experience headaches and nightmares that center around her time with the aliens and Mindy realizes she must confront her demons or risk going insane. I grew to love Mindy's charm and grit. Mindy starts out as somewhat naive and immature but really metamorphosed in to a kick a## heroine! And her `hero' was the perfect match for her! I relished their budding romance and tried to stop myself from rushing ahead because I was so eager to learn more about them. This story was written with a sure style that was fascinating to read. The one thing I really enjoy about A.J. Menden's books are her imagination and the ability to switch gears midway through the story surprising this reader with twists that kept me guessing even as I rooted for the heroine. I also admire her ability to bring the reader deep into the relationship between the 2 main characters so you feel invested in their love for one another. Overall, this book was a fun, light read that I read in one sitting. I especially enjoyed the interactions between all of the heroic team and wonder what the author has up her sleeve for future installments?! lighthearted superhero romance

Over time her mechanical brilliance has led her to be called TEKGRRL. Almost thirty, she has recently suffered from headaches, bursts of recovered memories including a trip on a flying saucer, and the sudden appearance of telekinetic skills, something she never displayed in her three decades of living. She conceals her fears of a voice inside her head while her former teammate who is now the new Secretary for Superhero Affairs, Simon Leasure claims EHJ is a vigilante criminal unit. The latest EHJ lighthearted superhero romance is faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive. Mindy is a wonderful focus of the tale as she struggles between her attraction to the enemy Simon while even more difficult and complex is her internal tussle with what happened when her parents sent her off world almost two decades ago and her related current awakening of superpowers. Readers will enjoy the exploits of TEKGRRL and her super love for Simon, who reciprocates her feelings, but feels strongly making their world safe comes first. Harriet Klausner
