Excellent Series

Birmingham has a very similar style to Marcia Mueller, and the lead characters are very similar -- they're real people with real faults that you can relate to.I've read each book in the series and enjoyed each one more and more as I've gone along. If you love Sharon McCone, you'll love Sunny Childs.

Excellent regional mystery

Gunnar Brushwood used to be a famous bounty hunter but he is now the owner of Peachtree Investigations located in Atlanta, Georgia. Because he knows he is not a very good sleuth, he employs Sunny Childs as his lead investigator. Gunnar usually lets Sunny make all the decisions. However, because he likes fame, media time and glory he overrules her decision and sets himself up for one of the biggest disasters of his life. Record Company owner Jeremy Ratkin hires the agency to find out what happened to his wife who disappeared from a locked room.The wife, famous country singer Georgia Burnett, has been kidnapped. When the criminals demand a ransom, Jeremy agrees to pay it. Sunny and Gunnar are going to exchange the money for Georgia but before that can happen, they both realize that the whole scenario is publicity stunt designed to promote her next album. Sunny wants no part of the farce but Gunner decides he wants to be in the spotlight and finishes the exchange. Sunny quits her job.
