Bringing the East Westward

Sunset's "Oriental Cookbook" is a fascinating culinary journey, especially to Southeast Asia. Some of the recipes are quite time-consuming and intensive (such as tea-smoked duck & steamed savory custards),but most of it is accessible Asian cuisine. There's a Japanese spinach omelet that masterfully mixes together spinach & eggs along with sugar & soy sauce. The Indonesian chicken soup with condiments-an amazing blend of lemongrass, chicken, ginger, coriander & turmeric-along with toppings such as chili paste, flaked coconut & chili paste,is delicious and perfect for a cold night. Cambodian Sour Beef Soup is another hearty culinary creation. Sunset's "Oriental Cookbook" is perfect for the armchair/kitchen traveler!

Best of Asian cooking

Have this cookbook since 1970 and find it to be the best Asian cook book. I have many Asian cook books but none as easy and simplfied as this one. Every recipe is wonderful. Bought my 3 daughters the book, since they grew up eating recipes from this book, they all love it. My book from 1970 is falling apart, pages in hodge podge order, but I still cook out of it, even though I have a newer one (don't want to mess up the new one) Love all of Sunset's cook books, they are all user friendly and the recipes come out great!
