Memorable!

I have hunted and hunted but the word out there is that the sequel--though complete--is not to be published, and the third installment isn't going to be written at all for the lack of a publisher. Such a shame! I forgot the title, the author, and the publisher but I never forgot the characters or the plot. Calyx is great--strong, multi-faceted, good. The plot and the magic are beautifully drawn. This is a provocative book! A great read on a cold winter's night in front of the fire. Don't worry too much--it stands alone without a sequel. Maybe if enough people read/buy/love this book the publishers will change their minds. A+

I want the Sequel.

I bought this book when it was published in 1990, and it is the only book that I have ever read that had me drooling for the sequel...In the "About the Author" section, it says that the book is the first in her new fantasy trilogy. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone except the story is not finished...Please publish the sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

A Wondrous Read

This was one of the best fantasies I'd ever read-- the character development is amazing, the plot is inventive (so many fantasy books are so formulaic) and even with the (sigh) lack of sequel, these characters stay with your imagination for a long time. Anyone who loves to dream will love this novel.p.s. i love the silkiyam, oh please let there be another book so i can know more about ceena

No Sequel

Unfortunately Elyse has moved publishers and will probably not making the sequel. It is ashame as it was a great book.

Where oh where is the sequel?

I loved this book, and so did my sister, who hates fantasy-now that's a recommendation. Ms. Guttenberg has managed to avoid the cardboard characters typical of many fantasy selections. Often in fantasy novels, the main character is either an impossibly powerful one, or is in some way too perfect for us to feel any connection to him/her. Not so here; not only does the internal conflict in the main character's quest hold our attention, but the magical system Ms. Guttenberg has devised is both interesting and well thought out. My only regret is that there has been no sequel to this book (and I've heard that there probably won't be). I keep checking online and in bookstores, anyway, hoping for another installment for this book. Ms. Guttenberg, if you happen to see this, would you please consider a sequel? I really want to know what happened to Calyx...
