Americans need to read this fantastic novel!

This is a phenomenally good book, and I am so glad to have stumbled upon it. It is intriquing, even for adults, although it is written for the teenage set. I would like to see this book recognized in the United States, it is a wonderfully original tale. I would like to read more Gary Crew. As a fifth grade teacher, I will not read this book in class as I was originally planning, yet I see that the high schoolers would really enjoy the novel. It has history, suspense, mystery, and the main character is not exactly who you think he is....

An extraordinary book

I read this book in year ten for English, and have read it many times since. Though it was named Best Children's Book for Older Readers, adults will appreciate it's value. Crew adds an imaginative story to an Australian mystery. This book is full of creativity and superior writing. It isn't long and is worth the time to read, you will value the experience.

Many perspectives

Strange Objects is a novel that has many perspectives. It changes its point of view many times, for example a newspaper report or Steven Messenger's journal entries. This novel is a fascinating story which includes pieces from Australian History, and a similarity with Daniel defoe's Robinson Crusoe.Overall a great book to read, you should try it.

Amazingly intriuging (excuse my spelling)

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery, and to those who think no story can bewilder them. What makes this book special is that it is written so realistically, I almost feel I am a part of the events.

Superb mystery/intrigue novel for older adolescent readers

Strange Objects is, quite simply, unique. It blends history, fantasy and mystery together in story which twists and turns. The story is told through a series of different narratives, including newspaper articles, diaries, court notes and letters. The story begins when a teenager finds some strange objects in a cave, and pockets one of them - a ring. As the story progresses, the ring works its ancient magic on the boy. Paralleling this storyline is the publication of a 300 year old journal (another of the strange objects) detailing the effects of the ring on its owner. The conclusion leaves as many questions as it does answers...or does it? In summary, an original and compelling tale. By Grant Jeffer
