So amazingly written you actually believe the tech exists!

While I am a long time Star Trek fan, I tend to stay away from books such as this one because I just see it as another way for Paramount to get into our pocket books. I just lightly browsed this book one day in a book store and next thing I knew almost an hour had gone by!This has to be one of the most engrossing works of fictional tech I have ever seen. There are times where you almost wonder if some form of prototype exists for the items they discuss. Both richly written and illustrated this book is a absolute must buy for the die hard Star Trek fan! And if your favorite Star Trek is DS9 (like myself), I am not sure how you have lived without this book!

A good suppliment to DS9 needs

This book is amazing. I read it from cover to cover and ended up satisfied with all the details the authors placed in them. The book carries details ranging from the subspace communications system to the weapons and even the environmental system of the station. The information on it is not contained only to details about the station but everything connected to it including the Runabouts, and the Defiant. It gives off an effect that there is really a station named Deep Space Nine. The paper used was high quality glossy paper which doesn't crumple easily and the numerous images in them were in color. Although it could have been better with a hard cover, it's excellent the way it is.

A superb book for a superb series

I think this book summarizes the soul of this show. To the ones who love technical stuff it is great! To others who love the show, it is a souvenir every trekker must have. This book scores 100 with all honors! Recommended to all who were lucky to see all episodes! (here in Brazil unfortunatelly, we only had the first season...).

Absolutey a must for ANY Star Trek fan!!

Herman Zimmerman and his crew really made lots of Star Trek fans HAPPY with this book! Lots of detailed information about DS9, loaded with excellent color illustrations. Yes, the fold-outs at the rear of the book are fully detailed and fascinating!! This book even makes you believe that Star Trek's DS9 really exsists!! This book is one of the best that I have ever seen on one of the Star Trek series and again is a MUST for any DS9 and/or Star Trek fan!

A Very Impressive Addition to the Trek Universe

This book is a technical manual for a very good reason. It's loaded with technobabble, technical phrases, and other technical terms. This book, which is better than the TNG technical manual, is loaded with colors, images, and detail. You can view schematics of Deep Space Nine, the Defiant, the Runabouts, and several other starships that have made appearances on the show. (However, there are no pages devoted to the Sovereign, Intrepid, or Prometheus - Class vessels.) You can even access schematics and info on the Defiant's shuttlecraft (Seen in "Destiny" and "The Sound of Her Voice"), along with an impressive picture of the Defiant's shuttlebay. Anything and Everything you ever wanted to know concerning the design, construction, and use of DS9, Defiant, and the Runabouts can be found here. The book also comes with some nice pullouts of the station and the Defiant. There are also a few good pages regarding Bajor and Cardassia. Ona final note, I really enjoyed the logo's for the Defiant - Class and Danube - Class Projects. They were hilarious. All in all, this book is a must get for any DS9 or Trek fan.
