As an art therapy intern I have found myself constantly looking for new directives and activites to use with my adult substance abuse population. The title of this book hooked me immediately and I anxiously awaited its arrival. I must say that when it finally arrived I was quite disappointed to see that its content was designed for interventions with children. It would have been helpful if that detail could have been provided befor ordering. After suspending my judgement, however, I found that it contained a wealth of activities that could easily be used as a springboard for adaptation to diverse populations and treatment issues. Ross has done a fantastic job in compiling and presenting a broad range of activities. This book would be essential for anyone working with children. It is also a tremendous asset for anyone willing to use some creativity and adaptibility. Beyond its technical significance the degree to which the author's approach honors the children she works with is tangible in her writing and presentation. In this sense the book is a success not only for its practical application but also for its ability to inspire.
