Wonderful and insightful

This book is a wonderful story told from the perspective of a young immigrant to America, and the struggles she and her family face as undocumented immigrants. It does a wonderful job of putting the reader in the shoes of undocumented immigrants, but does so while still being a young adult novel that is easy and also full of all the other plights teenagers face -- romance, school drama, family drama. The way that this book has a completely "normal" teenage protagonist who just happens to be undocumented helps the reader relate to situations that may be wildly different from their own experiences and is sure to spark empathy. Given today's political climate and the debate over immigration, I believe everyone could benefit from reading this book.
