Small Bills on Top, is a series I was inspired to write while under the duress of some of the worst possible circumstances, a human being could ever endure. It was penned while serving a 75-month Federal Prison sentence in the rough, rugged, and bitterly cold mountains of Canaan, Pennsylvania. The day of my actual sentencing was the day the light bulb clicked on over my head, upon hearing the judge read citations from a letter I was encouraged to write her, at the coercion and behest of my attorney to address the Most Honorable presiding over my case-in my own voice, on my own behalf - I'd had an epiphany. More importantly, it was what she said, "Out of all my years on the bench, I've never read a letter like yours," that gave me the gumption to scribe this body of work.
