Fairly good read

Having read just a sampling of the "Gunsmith" novels prior to reading this, I'm a relative new comer to the genre of adult westerns. However, I still found "Slocum and the Gold Slaves" to be a fairly decent read. There's really not too much else to comment on here except for the fact that I found myself drawn in by some of the side characters in "Gold Slaves" and began to actually care about them (that's sort of unusual for this genre). Perhaps the most suspenseful thing about this particular read though was wondering just how (given his incarceration in an all male mining camp) Slocum was going to end up bedding a woman (as is sorta required in these kind of books). But trust me-he still found a way. :) All in all, I can't really comment on how this story stacks up to the others in the Slocum series as this book marks my introduction. But if "Slocum and the Gold Slaves" is any indication of what's in store-I'm going to enjoy continuing the series.
