This is a fun book that will make many Beatle fan readers think of Tina Kukla's book, "12 Cold Creek Street." The delightful line drawings will certainly captivate readers. Set in early 1964, our young protagonist transforms from a patriolatrist (daddy worshipper) into an adolescent who loves the Beatles. I love the drawings of father in daughter, in their 1961 Pontiac with a ghostly image of the Beatles drawn above the radio as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" blares forth. The girl is transformed; she is from then on a committed Beatle fan. Patriolatry then becomes a thing of the past. She fantasizes about the Beatles' limousine breaking down in front of her house. The banter among the family and their famous guests is deligtful and very cleverly written. I love the expressions on each Beatle's face; each Beatle is instantly recognizable and the lines he is given are "true" to "his own voice," meaning in keeping with what the real Beatle would have said. This is a fun, magical mystery tour (oops, that's 1967) fantasy of Beatle wishes and dreams. Beatle fans will especially love this one. This is the ideal fan fiction companion to The Beatles: Live at 12 Cold Creek Street, which is another exemplary Beatle fan fiction work.
