Best served cold

Well, I was drawn to this book because I like the thrillers that Lisa Unger writes and I am all for a woman or women going after men who have harmed others and gotten away with it. It has the vibes of a sisterhood that does that (and boy does that guy deserve it!), kind of witchy, but with herbs and some have talismans or dolls and celebrating certain aspects of the moon and such, and I enjoyed it but then it, to me, kind of muddled around in the middle, jumping back and forth in time to mostly highlight parts of Ana and Vera's childhoods and how they ended up part of that, and it kind of lost steam making it a bit less of a thrilling can't put down read. Possibly because the characters were not easily likeable. There were lots of twists though and suspects and secrets hidden deep so I still mostly enjoyed it though it is not one of Lisa Unger's best books. I am glad I did get the chance to read it though and had fun trying to figure out the guilty parties and if justice or vengeance would be served to the right people.

Not my cup of tea

3/11/26 - 3/16/26 Served Him Right by Lisa Unger This was the Brenda Novak March Book of the Month Book Group’s read. I struggled with this novel and usually I am very open and open-minded about a new author to myself. But, with that said, I found in this book, not a big fan of the writing of different characters and being all over the place with them. I know it takes additional concentration to focus on such writing, to keep all the parts and characters straight, but I just felt some over others just were nonsensical. Maybe I just wasn’t into the fantasy side of storyline. I guess what I’m trying to say is, was this a thriller, a murder mystery, a fantasy world novel? It seemed to have three or more genres going on. It just wasn’t one of my favorites.
