Every year a group of noblemen and women, (and many not so noble), get together to follow a tradition. The men take off for two weeks hunting in a remote place in Scotland while the women stay together in Trenwith Hall, a stately English mansion. Here they peruse a life of indulgence, filled with shopping, theatre, ballet, cocktails and gossip. Unbeknown to everyone, each woman in the group has a terrible secret. Each secret, however insignificant it might appear to others, was very important to her, so she would lie and deceive to keep it from becoming known.A murder takes place in the grounds of the estate and this leads to each person present being a suspect. As the police start to investigate, there is a risk the secrets will be exposed. Should this happen, each person's life will become worse, and many will suffer should the truth become public. They have to keep their secrets hidden and appear normal. How far they are prepared to go to do this, remains to be seen. Was the murder simply one of them covering her tracks and protecting her secret? Or was it something more macabre?This book follows the lives of the women staying in Trenwith hall the year of the murder as their secrets unfold, one by one. It also follows the police as they investigate the murder, and there is even a hint of romance thrown into the mix.
