Compassion for animals

I loved the books in this series as a 2nd-4th grader. Each book is written from the perspective of the animal, about their life in the natural world. I especially loved "Sea Otter", which I credit with helping develop a really strong interest in understanding animals. I think the Annixter books did a great deal to develop compassion and love for animals. These are wordy chapter books, not picture books. For independent readers who love animals.
