Scarface Devil in Disguise

If you are a Scarface fan, I reccomend this comic book. This book goes back in Cuba when Scarface was working for Castro's army. Scarface Devil in Disguise explains how Scarface met Manny Ribera, how Scarface got his scar on his face, and him starting as a small time gangster to almost to a pro gangster.

Very cool back story to Tony Montana

A friend of mine passed this my way. That's how I discover most good comics these days. I'm not even the biggest fan of the movie Scarface, but I felt compelled to say something about this book, because it was a great read. You get to see the back story of Tony Montana, leading right up to where he enters the USA. Reading this got me excited for the potential of other movie backstories that can be adapted to comics. This one definitely sets the bar though. The writer looks like he did a lot of research on the culture of Cuba at that time. And the action and artwork were very reminiscent of one of my other favorite titles: 100 Bullets. Highly recommended.

A favorite ...

When I first bought Scarface: Devil in Disguise, I was a little reluctant because I am a true Scarface: The Movie diehard. I was worried that the Devil would destroy the great story line of Tony Montana and how he became the most feared faux cocaine trafficker in Miami's history ...but that was not the case. The detail the writer, Josh Jabcuga, went into about Tony as a child through his tenure with the Cuban military was detailed, without being to wordy, and gave Montana fans some closure how he became the "Monster" he was in the movie. In addition, the artwork & lettering is by far better than most of the "rags" on the selves in your favorite comic book store. I will keep raving about Devil in Disguise even though I am not an avid comic book reader!!! GREAT JOB IDW!
