SADIE by Courtney Summers Got this from our LFL; I almost passed it up because it’s YA, but the premise was intriguing. The story unfolds through dual POVs; Sadie who is looking for the person who killed her sister Mattie, and podcast host, West McCray who is searching for Sadie. Sadie and Weston’s perspectives are so well done! Sadie is such a great character. She’s tough and clever yet fragile, and vulnerable. Her love and loyalty to her sister was incredibly touching and commendable. I was rooting for her every step of the way. The podcast chapters were also very well done. There’s an overall feeling of helplessness, frustration, and dread as West is always one step behind Sadie. A heartbreaking, dark and realistic story. Highly recommend for my fellow true crime fans, but check trigger warnings. [ Note: I listened to the audiobook in tandem. It features a full cast performance which made it such a wonderful and immersive experience! ] Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️

Fantastic
Fantastic book! Hard to put it down, and I’m still thinking about it days after finishing. The writing is excellent, and the theme of missing girls is so haunting because it’s something that happens for real every day. Courtney Summers does not pull any emotional punches, either. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Unforgettable and dark
I am never going to forget this book. It will stick with me forever, and if that isn't a 5 star book, then.... Seriously, every minute of this was 5 stars. It was deep and thoughtful, but also action packed and kept the momentum going at a good pace. Sadie's character as a bit of an anti hero was brilliant. And that ending!? What. An. Ending. I hated it but loved it.
