Fun and entertaining mystery

While shopping for books at a local thrift store, I noted a clerk taking books off the shelf. I asked what he was doing and he said he was taking books off the shelf that had been there too long - I have no idea what he was going to do with them, but I didn't want to risk losing a shot at some potentially good books being tossed out or something, so I convinced him to let me go through the box first. this is one of the books that I "saved" and I'm quite glad that I did. This is a detective novel with an "odd couple" of detectives - Casey Kellog is an ex-surfer and Al Krug is described as "irascible;" however, they work well together and make a good team. Published in 1976, Kellog dresses in the height of current fashion, which is terribly amusing when looking back on it. I think this would make a great movie, actually. But enough about that. On to the plot. Kellog and Krug are called out on the second murder in two weeks, which just happens to be a hypnotist. The victim's name is Stephen Myrick and it turns out that he was holding some type of therapy sessions at his home with drug addicts, working to cure them. As Kellog and Krug investigate, they meet a most interesting array of people, all of whom are portrayed clearly by Carolyn Weston, each unique. If you can find a copy of this book, I can recommend it to any mystery lover, anyone who loves a good detective story. This one is a lot of fun.
