Captivating - and deep

I'm an avid reader, but not a great writer, but I'll try here... This book has me completely captivated - the way he incorporates scriptures into the 'conversations' that he has with God is incredible - it allows God's Words to speak in a conversational way that hits your heart. I can see myself in every situation he writes about; wandering in the wilderness, being stuck and taunted by my fears, trying to work my way into God's graces, and by reading about myself in this book, it both convicts me about where I am and the things I'm doing, as well as gives me the courage to truly face my fears and allow God to defeat them. Excellent read, and resource to direct you directly into God's heart, will and desire for you to be in relationship with Him. Helps me to hunger and thirst for God's word as I see the references within the book and want to read again what his promises are to me, and how much he really loves me.

The most beautiful illustration of God's Love.

Before I tell you why I enjoyed this book so very much, I want to tell you how I found it. It's kind of weird so bare with me! I was in a bookstore one day skimming through all the christian literature and I was desperately trying to find a Japanese author. I know it's quite odd. I know this doesn't make sense. But actually it was the reason I found Don Nori. He is NOT Japanese by the way but his last name drew my eyes because it sounded japanese. Of course I was suddenly excited and then disappointed. =P But then I read the title of his book, "Romancing the divine". I was completely compelled by it. I thought to myself, "What a wonderful title...what could he possibly mean?" I flipped the book over and began to read the back summary. The words even in the mere summary hit me hard because I was reading what I wanted to hear. That I was not alone in my struggles spiritually. Everything that this book was about reminded me of myself... or maybe what I wanted. Also as a reminder! The introduction is a part you shouldn't skip. I usaully skip them but this you just shouldn't. It is beautiful. I found this book to be on my absolute top five. This book unravels the layers of your relationship with God. Some of the most popular christian writers like Max Lucado, Charles Stanley, Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer have given us great words for wisdom but do not pass this author up just because he's not on the front display. Honestly, I don't think I've seen God's love written this way in modern literature. My top five christian authors and recommended reads: 1. Charles Stanley (book: When the enemy strikes) 2. Ravi Zacharias (book: The real face of atheism / Cries of the heart) 3. Don Nori (book: Romancing the divine) 4. Max Lucado (book: Just like Jesus) 5. C.S. Lewis (book: Mere Christianity)
