Ride for the Roses is extraordinary!

Christina Kingston's "Ride for the Roses" pulled me into the story at the start and never let go. Regina is the kind of heroine who inspires even modern-day women to be all they can be, and the hero, Taskford, is the kind of lovable rake whose habits regarding the women in his life just beg to be broken. If you love tales of adventure, romance, and riding hell-bent across the country estates of fascinating Lords and Ladies, this book is for you!

One for the Keeper shelf

It's wonderful to find a book you can't put down, and this is definitely in that category. Regina is determined to gain the guardianship of her niece and nephew. Harry, known as Hard-hearted Harry is the new Earl of Taskford. Now they are neighbors and racing competitors. While Regina works to defeat her cousin Jasper's attempts to become the children's guardian, Harry entertains his friends and works on seducing Regina. This wonderful cast of characters is a delight and I hope we will meet Harry's friends in future books.

In the Winner's Circle

As Renoir painted romance and light into his works of art, Christina Kingston has given her readers a similar gift. Using romance, action and a dash of mystery she has woven a wonderful love story with "Ride for the Roses." The word electricity comes to mind when we meet Harry and Reggie, Christina Kingston's two dynamite main characters. Lord Taskford makes a suburb hero, devilishly handsome. A leader of men and a lover of women, he is a composite of Tom Cruise, Sean Connery and my husband. Together with his lady-love, the beautiful, intelligent, capable Regina Landry we are off and running in a delightful story we will read again and again. The hero and heroine are surrounded by a lovable assortment of supporting characters that are so well written they deserve to have their own stories told in future books. The sensitivity Christina Kingston uses dealing with newly orphaned children, in "Ride for the Roses" adds another layer of feeling to her story, helping to create a beautiful rich tapestry for her readers. Christina Kingston has also done her homework in the research department, cleverly giving us an accurate account of thoroughbred bloodlines and how they came into being. Christina Kingston, a very talented writer, has got it all. She writes with the clarity of Willa Cather, adds a dash of mystery, ala Agatha Christie, and action, and romance that is pure Christina Kingston. My crystal ball tells me that there is a bright new star on the literary horizon, and her name is Christina Kingston. Bravo Christina.

W hy hasn't this sleeper made a bigger splash?

Serendipity brought RIDE FOR THE ROSES to my attention. I had never heard of the book or its author till I found it in my PO Box to review for Romance Communications. It only took a few pages before I realized it was a gem. The heroine is uniquely strong and intelligent, the hero one of those complex rakes so many of us love, and the minor characters engaging. The plot is many-layered, with excitement, suspense, humor and mild sensuality. This author is a dark horse who will surely win, place and show in future.
