If you have a train fan in your family, this is one book you might want to consider because it will

"All Aboard! All aboard!" It's time to climb aboard. People leisurely gather their backpacks or luggage to make the ten o'clock outbound train. A young man with a surfboard slowly moves toward the door as others start through the train's doors. Everyone finally is aboard and the train begins to move . . . "rumble, rumble, rumble, roll, rattle and rap, clickety clack." People watch as the train begins to move out. As they begin their journey, the conductor starts to move through the cars asking for people to show their tickets. As two trains pass each other you can hear them talk. "Whoooooosh! Whoooooosh!" The train moves and sways as it passes through the city. When people look out the windows they can see the movement of the city and get a look at old buildings. Things just seem to hurry by. They soon cross a bridge and can see people on a bike path and boats down below. The train is soon out in the countryside whirring past a small village, some cows and some sheep. There are so many things to see and experience on a train ride. What will they see next? In this book you will experience, feel and see what it is like to take a leisurely train ride. I liked the cadence of the text because it really does emulate the sounds, sights and feel of a train ride. This is a popular book that children love to read and explore, especially young train fans. One of the most exciting experiences for youngsters, if they cannot actually ride a train, is to watch them go by or read about them. The vibrant art work is fun and very appealing. If you have a train fan in your family, this is one book you might want to consider because it will be "read" time and time again!

Cute Book for Young Train Lovers - a review of Rattle and Rap

"Rattle and Rap" is a colorful book that ought to please the early train-loving set. The artwork is bright and goes from edge to edge. The text is simple and full of bouncing and hurrying and whoosing. And Susan Steggall shows us trains in all sorts of environments: fields with cows, cities and towns. We get see trains from the outside, and the inside, by lakes and in stations. We get to see trains, which are all modern by the way, loading and unloading and carrying people and freight. Speeding out of tunnels, rushing over rivers. Here's an example of the text: All aboard! All aboard! Bustle and fuss, bustle and fuss, rumble, rumble, rumble, roll, rattle and rap, clickety clack. Talking Points::: This is an above-average (**3.5 Stars**)little book with colorful, artwork. The verses are meant to convey hustle and bustle. But the strength of the book is that there are many things to discuss, like what people are doing, where they and the trains are going. Bright primary colors will let adults teach colors. I'd say it's a book for preschoolers and toddlers. Pam T~ mom and reviewer at BooksForKids-reviews
