Range science and agronomy are fundamentally similar disciplines that have developed separate constituencies. The meeting of the American Society of Agronomy at the University of Arizona in Tucson in August of 1970 provided an opportunity to display to a large group of agronomists the physical appearance of part of the range, and to present for their enlightenment a series of lectures on the application of science to the solution of range development problems. The range was displayed on bus tours; the research was described in the lectures that follow.
