Anna Mwalagho is a performing Artist: poet, singer, songwriter, actress, storyteller, motivational speaker and comedian. Anna Mwalagho was born in Kenya to a family of four. At the tender age of 22 years old, she left her country Kenya by herself, right after finishing college to come to the USA. Young, ambitious, talented and na?ve, she did not know she was embarking on a new life full of challenges, loneliness, love and success. She had no clue what an illegal immigrant meant when she became one of the statistics. Torn between going back home and staying in the USA to pursue her dreams, she decided to stay in the USA despite her undocumented status. She found therapy, solace and hope through writing poetry and performing her poems as a spoken word artist while representing Africa in a positive light. She registered her performing arts company and would perform for organizations, schools, universities, churches and governmental institutions. After more than ten years she managed to go back home, bringing with her volumes of poems that she had written over the last ten years. Anna has released two poetry and musical CDs, live video of her performances and produced T-shirts that promote African pride. Her poetry book explores life's rough but fulfilling journey as an African immigrant in America, bringing to light experiences of other immigrants.Anna Mwalagho is married and she lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
