Not Quite a Hero

Grace Allinson befriends Melissa Knight when she shows up at Grace's beauty shop. Sir Nigel invited Melissa and her brother Demetrius to dinner. But Demetrius rubs Grace up the wrong way when he picks up his sister at Grace's shop and treats Grace like she is a shop sweeper or something. He is rude and condescending toward Grace. Even after he finds she is the daughter of Sir Nigel. But Grace gives as good as she gets, sitting Demetrius on his ear more than once. From the back of the book: 'She hadn't invited him to change her life! The quiet life at Allinson Manor appealed to Grace. With one heartbreak behind her, socializing had stopped being a priority in her life. But the arrival of new neighbors, Greek tycoon Demetrius Knight and his rebellious kid sister, Melissa, made socializing unavoidable. Duty alone dictated an invitation to dinner. So, Grace had obliged, never dreaming that in one short evening she could no more ignore Melissa's need for a friend than she could ignore Demetrius Knight, period!'
