The date palm is the treasure of the Saharan regions. Not only for its fruit, of which there are thousands of varieties, but also for its ecosystem services and the various uses of its by-products for the benefit of oasis dwellers and their livestock. Date pits are one of the by-products of date palms. They are discarded or partially incorporated into animal feed or used in the treatment of diabetes, as an anesthetic, in cosmetics, etc., resulting in a significant economic loss.
